Nature’s Breath | Linen Spray
Lavender essential oil, as you may know, is well known for it’s soothing and calming properties. High in Monoterpnenols and Esters, it also acts as a central nervous system sedative, supports your immune system, and has antiallergenic properties. All of this may help you and your family find a great night sleep when you need it most.
Grain alcohol is added as a preservative as well as a way for effective solubilizing (mixing) oil and water. In order for alcohol to do both 150 proof must be used. It also naturally inhibits microbial growth. If you don’t have this on hand, witch hazel is a nice emulsifier but important to note that it is not a preservative. I would still give it a decent shake before use.
Essential oils don’t just mask unwanted aromas but thanks to their antimicrobial properties, they actually work against the bacteria that causes unpleasant odors. This means it isn’t masking smelly bacteria, but instead helping to neutralize it.
Instructions: Simply spray on your linens before bed. Don’t forget to turn off your screens before bed!
Not a fan of Lavender? Try Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium). It possesses more of an herbal quality, than floral and provides many of the same soothing therapeutic benefits. You could also try them together, a combination that I love.
Note: Any time you’re making a water based blend, gently shake before use and refresh every few weeks to keep it from going off.
Blessings.
